What exciting ideas lie behind the new South Korean indie animation? During the first weekend of the Black Nights Film Festival, a special Korean animation programme will be accompanied by guests.
"We hope that Korean independent animations and their creators, each with their own distinctive flair, will leave a lasting impression on the audience in Tallinn," writes Yujin Choi, the Festival Director of Seoul Indie AniFest.
Saturday brings horror films that are terrifying yet cute. Among the filmmakers, Saeorm Seo (2021), author of Carnivorous Bean Sprout, and Changsoo Kim (2020), director of Preys — a film about pigs who have to eat flowers and hide their anxiety to survive — will be present at the screening of "Sweet Horror".
The guests will also be at Sunday evening's "New Korean Animation" screening, which will include the 2022 PÖFF Shorts winner "Persona " (2022). Viewers' questions will be answered by Hye-jeong Lee ("Going well...", 2021) and Seo-ro Oh ("(OO)", 2021). On Sunday afternoon, children's films will be screened in a session "Korean Tales for Children".
